CARE Network
What we do
The CARE Network is a team based within Student Life that helps students navigate challenges that impact their ability to thrive at RISD. If you are referred to us, we will support you and provide you with resources, and can refer you to services on and off campus that can offer the help you need.
Please note, CARE is not an emergency resource. If you or someone you know is experiencing an emergency or needs immediate assistance, call Public Safety’s emergency line (401 454–6666) or dial 911.
Refer someone to the CARE Network
If you are concerned about someone’s wellbeing, let them know help is available. Refer them to us so we can provide one-to-one assistance. You can also refer yourself if you need support.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who can refer someone to the CARE Network?
Anyone who is concerned about a student’s wellbeing can make a referral, including students, family, faculty, staff and other community members. You can even refer yourself if you need.
How do I know if my concern should be referred to the CARE Network?
If you think that someone (including yourself) may benefit from a CARE Network referral, we encourage you to refer them. We will assess each referral for the best response to each person’s need. You do not have to worry if the concern is too big or small. If there is a problem better handled by a different office on campus, we will make a referral to that office or service.
Will other people know if I've received help from the CARE Network?
If you or someone you know is referred to us, the referral and any support provided is private. Only the RISD employees who have an active role in assisting the person would have any knowledge of the referral and any assistance needed.
Our practice on sharing student information is informed by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
