First-Generation Support Programs
Among the resources and support we provide for students across campus, our programs for first-generation students offer mentorship, community and important tools for academic success. For more about these programs, see below.
FGC POP
First-Generation College Student Pre-Orientation Program
FGC POP is an intensive two-and-a-half-week experience, which works to lay the foundation for students to understand what to expect academically and socially during the totality of the first-year of RISD.

Project Thrive
Project Thrive offers students the opportunities to reflect on their identities and embrace the unique strengths and assets they possess as first-generation college students.

First-Gen Supporters' Program
Students who participate in FGC POP can choose a group of trusted adults to be their team of supporters during their first year at RISD. Supporters receive regular communications from the ISE team to assist their student.
