Student Alliance

The chair’s primary role is to serve as a representative of the student body at RISD. By organizing the Student Alliance meetings and hosting events for all students to attend, they are responsible for hearing and elevating student concerns to the Board of Trustees and other members of the school’s administration. 

Incoming Chair: Carolyn Batabye Nakawungu 28 ID

The vice chair helps the Student Alliance prioritize student needs and manages the budget. They also oversees annual elections and supports the Chair in hosting town hall meetings. 

Incoming Vice Chair: Thanh Doung 28 IL

The communications manager is the primary leader for all communications relating to the Student Alliance. They share information with all RISD students through social media and email newsletters about upcoming student surveys, elections, town hall summaries, and Board of Trustee reports.

The academic affairs liaison represents the academic student experience. They ensure that student voices are represented in academic matters, policies, and initiatives, and promotes academic resources, opportunities, and support services to students.

Incoming Academic Affairs Liaison: Jeanne Alailima 29 TX

The social equity and inclusion (SEI) Liaison represents student experiences surrounding diversity, equity, and inclusion. They makes sure that all student voices, including those from underrepresented and marginalized communities, are heard, valued, and represented by the Student Alliance and institutional leadership in decision making. 

Incoming Social Equity and Inclusion Liaison: Janesse Castille 28 FAV

The student experience liaison represents student experiences outside of the classroom or studio. They work to share information from students to leadership in the Student Life Division, Facilities, Auxiliary Services, and other administrative offices.
